English: Town centre redevelopment works in Galashiels This photograph, taken on 12/11/06 from the top of the Station Brae in Galashiels, shows the general area where the Station Brae Bridge used to be. The steel framed bridge, opened in 1938, was dismantled over a period of 6 days, as part of major redevelopment works in the town centre. The concrete side walls of the upper abutment are in the foreground, while the edge of a new roundabout can be seen on the far right. A new road will link into this roundabout from the Melrose Road. The main buildings from left to right are:- part of Galashiels Health Centre, Andersons Chambers, and Our Lady and St Andrews Church. |
