Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The strong tidal race past the wreck of the 'Hoveringham' The Menai Strait is notorious for its tidal race. The 'Hoveringham', a 471 tonne sand-dredger, was caught in such a strong tidal race on a stormy day in January 1971, sprang a leak and sank. The up-side down wreck is exposed at very low tide. On 27 July 2004 a yacht went aground on the wreck. It was towed off with the rising tide by Beaumaris lifeboat. MV Hoveringham II (ship, 1954) [1]
