The framing is very rigidand is exceptionally well braced and trussed to withstand thesevere strains experienced in high-speed service. The floor framing consists of .six sills, the four center sills being6-in. I beams with wood fillers extending the whole length of thecar. The side sills are double and made of yellow pine, with steelplate between them. The cross bars are of malleable iron, eachcarrying two tie rods, and are so arranged that electric or air brakeapparatus may be readily suspended therefrom. On top of thesebars are laid li-in. transitc boards. The floor is laid on top of thisand securely fastened to side and center sill fillers.
