| Description |
English: The other Rufus Stone, Beaulieu, New Forest The "original" Rufus Stone is located a long way north of here, between Minstead and Bramshaw in the north of the Forest (26525). It is thought more likely that William Rufus was killed in the south of the Forest, south of Beaulieu. The plaque on this monument reads: "Remember King William Rufus who died in these parts then known as Truham whilst hunting on 2nd August 1100". It is located close to the Mill Pond in the grounds of Palace House. |
