English: Photographer's caption: An unusual business combo called The Snow that serves as both a "sno-ball" stand and a nail salon in Algiers, a historic New Orleans, Louisiana, neighborhood that is the only part of the city on the West Bank, or west bank, of the Mississippi River. Called sno-balls in the New Orleans area and sno-cones in many other parts of the nation, these are shaved-ice treats, doused in sweet flavored syrup.
Notes: Long lasting neighborhood business actually called "The Snow", but the sign with the third word was lost before this photo. "Sno-balls" to go sold from window at left; nail salon indoors at right. 605 Opelousas Avenue, New Orleans |
