Description
English: The Battle of Algeciras, 12 July 1801

Pierre Ozanne was a member of a large family of marine draughtsmen and engravers from Brest. By the age of twenty he was an official naval artist ('Dessinateur de la Marine') who became an engineer and administrator at the Port of Toulon. He made a number of pen, ink and wash drawings of this incident from the Battle of Algeciras, of which the present example represents his art at its most precise and elegant. The drawing is signed.
