Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The 'Bowden Skull' This is a view of the rear of a stone in Bowden Churchyard that displays an example of Death's Head. This carving of a winged skull is a symbol of mortality and the swiftness of death's approach. It is accompanied by the words memento mori, meaning remember you must die. It seems that this stone has sunk into the ground over the years.
