[edit]DescriptionTWIP - 2009-12-06 Ali Abunimah speaking at the BDS conference.vorb.oga |
English: A pathbreaking conference on BDS ("boycott, divestment, and sanction") was held at Hampshire College, Amherst MA, in late November. The conference venue was aptly chosen: Hampshire College was the first major institution to adopt an official policy of divestment from Israeli-related securities. One of the main speakers was Ali Abunimah, co-founder of The Electronic Intifada (electronicintifada.net). Abunimah is author of the book One Country: A Bold Proposal to End the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict, which proposes to revive the idea of one state shared by two peoples. (In his talk, Abunimah symbolically tried to "sell" the establishment-touted two-state solution, and was unable to get a bid of even two dollars!) In this extended edition of This Week In Palestine, we bring you Abunimah's talk at that BDS conference. A major point of the talk was that BDS actions being enacted by justice activists worldwide are actually beginning to work, and to worry the war criminals who run Israel's government. |

Additional Notes | This Week In Palestine (a weekly part of Truth and Justice Radio) is (normally) a three-quarter-hour segment of news from Palestine and discussion of issues relevant to the Palestinians' struggle for freedom from Israel's brutal military occupation and colonization, and now bombing, devastation, imprisonment, and murder, of their homeland, thanks in part to U.S. taxpayer funding. It's part of Truth and Justice Radio, aired Sundays 6-9:30am ET on WZBC 90.3FM, Newton, MA, streaming (and also archived for two weeks) at wzbc.org. Our website, truthandjusticeradio.org, links to audio archives of 2008/2009 editions of This Week In Palestine; even more editions are obtainable at the URL "tinyurl.com/twiplist2" which links to our postings on radio4all.net. The most important message we repeat is that all caring humans must GET INVOLVED! |
