Additional Notes Today, we pause, temporarily, in our deliberations on Apartheid and the International Campaign for Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions against the state of Israel to acquaint our listeners with a visionary and exciting project for Jerusalem in which everyone can participate. The project, initiated at MIT, is called Jerusalem 2050.
Diane Davis, professor of political sociology and associate dean of the School of Architecture and Planning at MIT, and a director of the Jerusalem project, described the goals of the project as follows: "The key motivation in launching this kind of competition was how to think about making Jerusalem a more peaceful, sustainable and just city, a place that's welcoming and satisfying for all its residents, no matter their politics or religious, nationalist or ethnic identities."
To help us better understand the ambitious nature and the extended reach of this remarkable project, we are very pleased to welcome our featured guest, Dr. Leila Farsakh, Associate Professor of Political Science at UMASS Boston, and co-director of the project.
