We are specially pleased today to welcome our featured guest, Professor Norman Finkelstein. Professor Finkelstein teaches political theory at DePaul University in Chicago and is the author of 5 seminal books. His first book "The Rise and Fall of Palestine: a personal account of the Intifada years" was published by the University of Minnesota in 1996. His second book, co-authored with Ruth Bettina Birn "A Nation on Trial: the Goldhagen thesis and historical truth" was published by Henry Holt in 1998. His third book "Image and Reality of the Israel-Palestine Conflict" was first published in 1995 by Verso with an expanded second edition in 2003; his fourth book "The Holocaust Industry: Reflections on the exploitation of Jewish suffering" was published by Verso in 2000 with an expanded edition in 2003; and his fifth, and most recent book, "Beyond Chtutzpah: On the misuse of anti-Semitism and the abuse of history" was published by the University of California Press in August of 2005. Professor Finkelstein has lectured widely at Universities across the US and is the subject of several independent documentaries currently in production. In 2002, he delivered the annual memorial lecture in history at Alfred University, and in 2005 was the presenter for the hour-long documentary: "The Final Insult" based on The Holocaust Industry, to be broadcast on Channel 4 in the UK. He joins us now by telephone. |
