Description
English: This picture shows an image of microtubules in a fixed BSC-1 cell, with the diffraction-limited image on the left and a superresolution image of the same field on the right, where the large increase in resolution is clearly evident. Tubulin monomers were labeled with an antibody to which Alexa647 was covalently bound. Superresolution detail was generated by the active control mechanism known as dSTORM/STORM, which forces the individual fluorophores to blink by addition of a glucose oxidase/catalase oxygen scavenger and mercaptoethylamine (MEA) reductant similar to that described in Hsiao-lu D. Lee, Steffen J. Sahl, Matthew D. Lew, and W. E. Moerner, Appl. Phys. Lett. 100, 153701 (2012); doi: 10.1063/1.3700446.
