Die brauchen Energie, was CO2 verursacht.
English: Whenever you turn on the light, the television or your game console at home, CO2 is emitted. Depending on where your electricity comes from, different amounts of CO2 are produced. Electricity from wind turbines, for example, causes little CO2. A part of the electricity in Germany is obtained from coal-fired power plants. They produce a lot of CO2. The coal is mined with huge excavators. They need energy, which causes CO2. The coal is then transported to coal-fired power plants on conveyor belts and trains. There it is dried and then ground into charcoal dust. The dust is burned, which heats water. The steam drives a turbine. And that generates electrical energy. It wanders through power lines into your socket so you can play on your game console. You see, until the electricity reaches your home, CO2 is produced in many places. |
