In order to make performing my music such as my latest EP -- which is free to download BTW easier to perform live I hope to divide the load between Arduinome and Stribe to control the laptop/device using OSC over USB. Plan is i'll use the Arduinome for triggering, loading, refining and setting up sequences, I'll use the Stribe for parametric work, fades, opening filters, plus the use of granular synthesis on samples and live sample re-cutting which is a big part of my sound. The eventual aim is to operate the laptop with lid closed -- effectively a "headless" system so I can concentrate on the sounds and not dick about with a screen>trackpad user interface. So, it's way too hot to go outside for long periods of time today, so hunched over a hot soldering iron seemed like a good idea instead! I started assembly of the Stribe which is in essense a touch-sensitive fader controller board project using what I had to hand. The order with Digikey, RSWWW are all underway and there are a few extra bits to get but for now, I did have a load of connectors left over from the Ardruinome build (the circuits board for the button pads in the background). I even had a few electrolytics left over of the right value. 256 solder points though. Oof. I have 5,248 holes to solder when the parts arrive! Oh for access to a solder flow bath! |
