Description
Deutsch: Sich brechende Wellen laufen am Badestrand der Nordseeinsel Wangerooge am Ufer auf.

Betrachtet man einen festen Ort im Wasser, hier der zweite Pfahl vom Ufer aus gezählt,, dann kann man die Zeitdauer in Sekunden messen, die zwischen der Ankunft von zwei weißen Kämmen von gebrochenen Wellen liegt. Diese Zeitdauer kann man dann die Periodendauer der Welle nennen.

Beschränkt man die Idee einer Periodendauer auf strikt nach gleichem zeitlichen Muster sich wiederholenden Vorgängen, liegt hier jedoch keine Periodendauer vor. Wie der Film zeigt, schwanken die gemessenen Zeitdauern doch erheblich. Vermutlich sich die Wellen nicht kohärent. Besser wäre es dann von einer Wiederholdauer von Wellendurchgängen zu sprechen.
