Deutsch: Prielartige Strandrinnen sind typisch für die deutsche Nordseeküste außerhalb der Elbmündung (wo die Gezeiten dafür zu stark sind). Hier sieht man, wie eine solche Strandrinne binnen weniger Minuten mit starker Strömung vollläuft.
English: As the tide rises the sea-level suddenly overflows a sand-barrier. The overflowing water quickly fills a tidal creek (Priel). On extended mudlands (Watt) this situation can easily cut off peoples way back to the island. |
