Summary

[edit]
Description
English: St. Abbs Head Lighthouse This lighthouse guarding a dangerous, cliff strewn stretch of coast, was built in 1862.It is 62 metres above sea level and flashes every 10 seconds, visible for 26 miles. To the right of the lighthouse is the foghorn, now disused. St. Ebba, who gave her name to the headland, was wrecked here in the 7th century and, in thanksgiving, founded a monastery and nunnery. Now a National Nature Reserve run by the National Trust for Scotland it is a spectacular place to view nesting seabirds. If taking children it is recommended they are roped up, as in the photo!
