Deutsch: Südwest-Deutschland mit Elsass. Oestliches Lothringen vor Ausbruch der französischen Revolution 1789.
English: Map showing the numerous and highly fragmented territories of Southwestern Germany on the eve of the French Revolution of 1789. In the case of Alsace and Lorraine, the areas shown in full colors are principalities that had not been absorbed into France and remained part of the Holy Roman Empire until the French Revolution. Areas that are only outlined in color are former states or portions of states of the Holy Roman Empire that had been absorbed by France, generally in the 17th century.
