English: Spring barley. All around, crops are being harvested, but this field has a long way to go and will be harvested in September. The barley was sown in the spring, not the previous Autumn. Spring sown crops have disappeared from much of England, but spring barley is still the most common crop in Scotland. Most of the grain is destined for malting. The Cheviot in the background. |
