Description

Euglena sp. with a spriral-shaped cell body. The cell has a red eyespot and large paramylon granules (a type of carbohydrate used as food storage).

Date: 23 Aug 2011

Location: Small lake in Kent Ridge Park, Singapore. Water margin with vegetation, brown sediment with organic detritus. Tadpoles resting nearby.

Microscope: Bright-field with closed condenser aperture.

Camera: Nikon D7000

Collector: Brandon Seah

Scale: Field of view is about 240 micrometers across.
