Summary
[edit]DescriptionSpeed limit and traffic monitor, Little Malvern - geograph.org.uk - 840548.jpg |
English: Speed limit and traffic monitor, Little Malvern Speed limits were introduced here a few years ago. The priory and court are on the left and the visitors' car park is on the right. In addition there is a tight right-hand bend on the side of the Malvern Hills. The pneumatic tubes are connected to a "Metro Count vehicle classifier system". This simply stores the time when the tubes are driven over. From this, using the software package, the speed, direction, number of axles, distance between axles, etc can be measured. Graphs can then be displayed to show the road use by different classes of vehicles and the "speed of the road". First filter out any data from vehicles following closer than 4 seconds behind others then plot the speed histogram and calculate the 85 percentile. See http://www.metrocount.com |
