Description
English: Smailholm Tower This 15th century rectangular tower, set within a barmkin wall, sits on a rocky outcrop on Lady Hill. It houses an exhibition of tapestries and costume dolls relating to Sir Walter Scott's Minstrelsy of the Scottish Borders. Sandyknowe Farm on the right, is where Scott spent his formative childhood years. The tower is in the care of Historic Scotland and is open all year.
