Summary
[edit]DescriptionSite of the old mill at Felinfoel - geograph.org.uk - 1043643.jpg |
English: Site of the old mill at Felinfoel Demolished in 1973, the spot is marked by an ornamental wheel. I remember the original mill fronting onto the road near to where the furthest lamp post can be seen.
Historians believe a mill existed here as afr back as 1399. It was a cloth mill as well as grinding corn and grist. It is thought that the name Felin-Foel means 'Bare Mill' as it replaced an earlier more ornate mill but there is evidence that in 1709 it was known as 'Voyle's Mill'. |
