English: Roberto Ragazzoni, the President of Italy’s National Institute for Astrophysics (INAF), and Xavier Barcons, ESO’s Director General, signed an agreement for the design and construction of the ANDES instrument. ANDES, the ArmazoNes high Dispersion Echelle Spectrograph, will be installed on ESO’s Extremely Large Telescope (ELT), and it will tackle a variety of astronomical questions, from searching for signs of life in exoplanets to testing variations of physical constants. |
