Description |
English: Service of Lieutenant J. S. Wilde, R.N., on HMS Terrible (1895) during her commission, 1898-1902. Album (no title page) complied by Lt. James Stuart Wilde. Black lacquer cover with Japanese type decoration, obverse features man and woman with cherry tree and village in background. Coloured in brown and gold, faces, legs and arms in white ivory or similar reverse features bird and plant. In poor condition, black laquer cracked, spine missing and some pages discoloured. Total of 78 photographs. Lt. James Stuart Wilde was appointed to Terrible on 22 April 1899 and finished on 24 October 1902. Covers service of Lt. J S Wilde RN on HMS Terrible (1895) during his commission from 1898 to 1902 including the naval landing parties in the Boer War (1898-99) and the Boer Rebellion of 1900.
