Description |
English: Second Class Dining Saloon on the 'Omrah' 1899 Interior of the passenger liner 'Omrah' (1899) showing the Second Class Dining Saloon, on the Main Deck; a view from the port side, looking towards the sideboard at the forward end. The Saloon was panelled in pitch pine stained in grey. The columns were finished in teak. The raked mainmast passing through the deck can be seen on the right. The swivel chairs were bolted to the floor to avoid movement during rough weather; they were a standard feature of ships’ restaurants until the First World War. |
