Summary
[edit]DescriptionSeaford House, 37 Belgrave Square - geograph.org.uk - 1515000.jpg |
English: Seaford House, 37 Belgrave Square This monumental mansion, standing at the east corner of Belgrave Square, was designed by Philip Hardwick for the 3rd Earl of Sefton in 1842-45. The porch was rebuilt after the war. Grade II* listed.
For a time I worked next door and the building was colloquially referred to as the "spy school". It is in fact occupied by the Royal College of Defence Studies. Or at least that's what they want you to think... The square was laid out from around 1826. Unusually, detached mansions were designed by separate architects for three of the corners. |
