LICEO N° 1 DE TACUAREMBÓ: ILDEFONSO PABLO ESTEVES

En diciembre de 1911 se aprobó la "Ley de creación de Liceos Departamentales", que fue promulgada el 5 de enero de 1912 con la firma del Presidente de la República Don José Batlle y Ordóñez, autorizando la creación de 18 Liceos Departamentales de Enseñanza Secundaria. Por dicha Ley se crean los Liceos de Paysandú, Florida, Colonia, Mercedes, Rocha, Melo, Minas, Trinidad y San Fructuoso El Liceo de la Villa de San Fructuoso comenzó sus actividades el 26 de marzo de 1912 en un edificio ubicado en la Calle 18 de julio esquina General Artigas y como Director fue nombrado Don José Pol Santandreu cuyo desempeño se extendió hasta 1913. Los primeros Profesores fueron: José Pol Santandreu : Gramática y Geografía
