Description
English: La costruzione dell'eremo - convento dell'Incoronata, incastrato in una valle nascosta nella catena del Partenio, iniziò nella seconda metà del XVI sec ad opera di Giulio Nardonensis, e Giovanni Figueras. Il convento ebbe uno sviluppo notevole nel corso dei due secoli successivi suscitando anche una presunta rivalità con il vicino e più antico santuario di Montevergine. Fu distrutto una prima volta dall'esercito francese nel 1806 per aver ospitato Fra Diavolo e tutta la sua banda ed una seconda volta, verso il 1866, dall'esercito piemontese perchè tra le sue mura diroccate trovavano ancora ospitalità famosi esponenti del brigantaggio postunitario.
