| Description |
English: Sampson House, Hopton Street. Sampson House would probably be best described as a Brutalist building. It was built in 1976-9 to the designs of Fitzroy Robinson & Partners who made extensive use of exposed concrete.
Admittedly it could be perceived as hostile to the passer-by with a lack of windows at street level and those above being mirrored, but even so I find it impressive. The railway line just over the river from Blackfriars station affords very good views. It is currently occupied by IBM. See 1347010 for a view of the west side. |
