Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The wall of Salisbury Cathedral Close at the entrance of Bishop Wordsworth School in Exeter Street. The decorative stones are believed to have come from the demolished cathedral in Old Sarum to the north of the city, although the upper decoration appears to be a later addition. The inclusion of the stones in the gate pillar intriguingly suggests a gateway has existed here for many centuries.
