Description
English: Gorget, part of cuirassier's armour. In the first half of the 17th century, the cuirassier's armour consisted mainly of a breast-plate and back-plate with a gorget (throat collar) and helmet, the so-called Zischägge. It was sometimes supplemented by thigh armour, called tassets, and gloves. The total weight of a cuirassier's armour was between 20 and 30 kilograms, which is considerably less than modern elite soldiers' combat equipment.
