Summary
[edit]DescriptionRijksmuseum van Oudheden, schatten uit Limburg, zilveren vaas uit Neerharen 6.JPG |
English: Detail of ancient silver amphora, discovered during construction work of the Zuid-Willemsvaart in 1828 in the river Meuse near Neerharen, Limburg, then in the Netherlands, after 1830 in Belgium. The bottom of the vessel contains inscriptions in Latin and Greek, which have not yet been deciphered. The object probably originates from Southern Europe after 500 BC and is now in the collection of the Rijksmuseum van Oudheden in Leiden. This photo was taken during the temporary exhibition Topstukken van het Rijksmuseum van Oudheden in the Limburgs Museum in Venlo, while the museum in Leiden was closed for renovations. |
