[edit]
Description
English: Photo taken from Upper Grangegorman Road. The red-brick building on the right (to the east) is the old Nurses' Residence, now used as an administrative office for local Health Service Executive (HSE) services. The building to the north of this with the clocktower is the old Richmond Penitentiary, built in 1810. It was transferred to the use of Richmond District Lunatic Asylum (later Grangegorman Mental Hospital and then St. Brendan's Hospital, Grangegorman) in the late nineteenth-century where it was used to house patients. Later the hospital's board room was located in the this building. Out of shot to the left (west) is the entrance to the upper house of St. Brendan's Hospital. The area is set for redevelopment under the Grangegorman Development Agency.
