“Waterloo 9 mo 13th 1824
D. Merritt & Son
Esteemed Friends I have got about 1000 Bushels of New Wheat @ 6/ p Bushel would like to know what you think wheat will be worth this fall & winter. & whether you think it an object to contract for [inserted] or buy much at that price or not. Meynders is paying that for all he can get. [sentences moved and added between lines] I wish you would informe me when you will be ready to receve this wheat As I would like to send it as soon as you can receve it as I do not like to let wheat lay in a [illegible] [illegible] for fear of injuring. and I will send it to you pr the Erie Canal Boat Co. I intend to start for N. York of the 1st – 10th where I shall likely see one of you. In haste
