English: Astrocyte swelling and oncosis near the boundary of an ischemic core in a live mouse cortex. Confocal images were collected on a single z-plane using a 40× objective. The region being imagined is at the boundary of lysed and swollen cells that define an ischemic core. Astrocytes fluorescence is due to the expression of GFP. |
