Español: ¿Somos los seres humanos la única forma de inteligencia en el planeta? Al parecer no es así. Jeremy Narby, notable antropólogo, botánico e investigador, se aventura en las culturas tradicionales y los descubrimientos más recientes de la ciencia contemporánea para determinar los secretos del conocimiento en la naturaleza y de esta manera proporcionarnos evidencia ilustrativa y abrumadora de que la inteligencia no es una cualidad única en los seres humanos.
Pero ¿Cómo podemos definir la inteligencia? "En su sentido original -escribe el autor- la inteligencia se refiere a elegir entre (inter legere) e implica la capacidad para tomar decisiones". Es así que Narby concluye que las bacterias, las plantas, los animales y otras formas de vida no humana muestran una increíble inclinación hacia la toma de decisiones, de acciones y la adopción de patrones de comportamiento que se puede evaluar claramente como inteligente. Jeremy Narby es Doctor en Antropología por la Universidad de Stanford, además es autor de los libros La serpiente cósmica: el ADN y los orígenes del saber (1998) y Chamanes a través de los tiempos: 500 años en la senda del Conocimiento (2001). Ha trabajado con los indígenas de Sudamérica durante muchos años, y hoy en día sigue estando involucrado diariamente en diferentes proyectos de ayuda a los nativos de la región del Amazonas. |
