Portrait of Electress Anna
Description

Electress Anna (1548 - 1585), wife of Elector August, in 1572. She had given birth to 14 children by this point, of which 10 had died. Life-size, full-length figure. The embroidery of her costume corresponds with that in the portrait of Elector August [DE_SBMF_01]. Her hands are clasped together holding her gloves and a laced handkerchief. She is positioned in front of a perspectival representation of an arcade. She wears a feathered bonnet on her head and her neck and sleeves are decorated with frills, a pendant with precious stone hangs around her neck on a a double chain.
