Pootspoelen op het eiland Schouwen; Weekjournaal van Polygoon Hollands Nieuws van week 10 uit 1949.; Naar oud folkloristisch gebruik worden, tegen het einde van de winter/begin van de lente, op het eiland Schouwen paarden de zee ingedreven opdat het zeewater de 'kwade' stoffen - die zich gedurende de winter in de paardenlichamen hebben verzameld - kan wegspoelen. SHOTS: Een lange rij ruiters verlaat de poort van kasteel Witte van Haamstede en rijdt door de duinen naar het strand; de ruiters rijden wat heen en weer door de branding; gaan daarna weer in optocht terug naar kasteel Witte alwaar de rit eindigt met een galop door de slotlaan.
