Summary
[edit]DescriptionPointing the wrong way, twice - geograph.org.uk - 337752.jpg |
English: Pointing the wrong way, twice The Coles Hydra Speed crane looks out to sea whilst the Duke of Kent lifeboat looks landward, there is a story there somewhere. The Hydra Speed was a popular and innovative mobile crane when launched in late 1960s by Coles of Newcastle and saw service though out the world with the British armed forces and is still going strong long after Coles ceased trading. The Duke of Kent was launched 03 Jul 79 and saw service at Eastbourne from 79 until as best I can find out after Nov 92. She was launched around 250 times and saved 86 souls. Both are standing on the middle pier of the old harbour with a view out to Broughty Ferry. |
