Deutsch: Das Gemälde gehört zu einer Serie von vier Bildern mit Geschichten aus dem Leben Davids, Repliken von Fresken in der Villa Pigneto, die zwischen 1625 und 1639 von Cortona für Kardinal Marcello Sacchetti gebaut und später zerstört wurde. Sie gelangten mit dem Kauf der Familiensammlung 1748 in die Kapitolinische Pinakothek, von dort aus wurden zwei in die Sammlung des Vatikan und die beiden anderen in den Quirinalspalast verbracht, wo sie sich noch heute befinden. Die jüngsten Forschungen halten die vatikanischen Bilder für eigenhändig, die beiden anderen für Werke der Schule Cortonas.[1]
