English: Phone and post boxes at Chesterton, Shropshire. For comparison with the grubby old phone box in this 2007 picture: 403032
All is not how it seems, however. Since then, the telephone box has been disconnected, taken away, and following local protest, brought back. The box, black wall thermometer, and wooden bench seat and water bowl for dogs are looked after by a local lady. Update 22.9.09 Apparently BT are now demanding £300 a year from villagers to leave the phone connected in the kiosk! |
