Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Pencraig. They did speak a form of Welsh here once, supplanted by Saxon, until the Northumbrians lost at Athelstaneford. This is one of the names that has hung on, or a coincidence? Pencraig Hill is a wooded lump overlooking a lot of East Lothian. The A1 used to run over it, and there is a viewpoint with indicator there. This is the view, the relevant NT5776 material being the arable land, just drilled and just harvested, with the woodland. A reverse image looking towards this point can be found under NT5777.
