The writing on the statue says in English and Spanish; “Please Look After This Bear” Paddington Bear from “darkest Peru”, is the well-loved main character in a series of children’s books by British author Michael Bond. In the first book, published in 1958, he left his native Peru and was found in Paddington Station in London. This statue was donated by the British Embassy in Lima to the Municipality of Miraflores as a symbol of the enduring friendship and cultural links between the UK and Peru. It was unveiled by the Lord Mayor of The City of London., Alan Yarrow and the Mayor of Miraflores Jorge Muñuz, on Saturday 18 July 2015. “Cuiden de este oso, por favor” El oso Paddington, del “lejano Perú”, es el entrañable personaje principal de una serie de libros para niños del autor británico Michael Bond en 1958, el oso salió de su natal Perú y fue encontrado en la estación de Paddington en Londres. Esta estatua fue donada a la Municipalidad de Miraflores per la Embajada Británica en Lima como símbolo de la amistad duradera y los vínculos culturales entre el Reino Unido y el Perú. Fue inaugurada por le Lord Mayor de la City de Londres, Alan Yarrow y el Alcalde de Miraflores Jorge Muñoz, el sábado 18 de julio de 2015. |
