Als de jonge en opmerkelijke contratenor Maarten Engeltjes een nieuw barokensemble opricht, blinkt de radar op. Zeker als dat een uitgebalanceerd geheel blijkt te zijn van uitstekende, jonge muzikanten aangevuld met vooraanstaande ervaren rotten. Het eerste project rond Pergolesi was alvast een voltreffer. Nu halen we het gezelschap met hun nieuwe programma opnieuw naar Antwerpen. Samen met zijn Hongaarse leeftijdgenote sopraan Emöke Baráth gaat Maarten Engeltjes op zoek naar aria’s van Bach die al te zelden te horen zijn. Het heerlijke duet ‘Wenn Sorgen auf mir dringen’, bijvoorbeeld, of ‘Kommt, ihr angefochtnen Sünder’. Het worden (her)ontdekkingen die nog lang in uw hoofd zullen ‘nazingen’. Surtout s'il s'agit d'un ensemble équilibré dans lequel d'excellents jeunes musiciens sont flanqués d'instrumentistes chevronnés de premier plan. Le premier projet, consacré à Pergolesi, était déjà une réussite. Nous avons invité l'ensemble à venir présenter son nouveau programme à Anvers. En compagnie de sa contemporaine hongroise, la soprano Emöke Baráth, Maarten Engeltjes part à la recherche d'arias de Bach qui sont trop rarement donnés à entendre. Le merveilleux duo « Wenn Sorgen auf mir dringen », par exemple, ou « Kommt, ihr angefochtnen Sünder ». Ces (re)découvertes continueront à chanter longtemps dans votre mémoire. English: We like to keep our fingers on the pulse here. So when the remarkable young countertenor Maarten Engeltjes set up a new Baroque ensemble, our curiosity was piqued. Especially when this turned out to be a balanced group of outstanding young musicians complemented by distinguished, more experienced colleagues. The first Pergolesi project was already an immediate hit. Now we once again bring the company to Antwerp with their new programme. Together with his Hungarian contemporary, the soprano Emöke Baráth, Maarten Engeltjes seeks out Bach arias that are seldom performed.
