Description
English: John Robert Engole was the first patient in the world to receive antiretroviral therapy (ART) treatment under the U.S. President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) through a CDC-supported partner in Uganda. The video is part of the #PEPFAR15 campaign overseen by the Office of the Global AIDS Coordinator recognizing the 15th anniversary of PEPFAR in 2018. The campaign and this video highlight U.S. government assistance to and leadership in the global HIV response as well as CDC's role in that initiative.
