Description
English: Otto Julius Bierbaum: Gugeline. Ein Bühnenspiel. Mit Buchschmuck von E. R. Weiß. Berlin, Schuster & Löffler 1899. »Als erste Buchveröffentlichung der Insel herausgegeben von Alfred Walter Heymel«. - Erstmals wurde hier das im Sommer 1899 von Peter Behrens entworfene Insel-Signet gedruckt. Im September 1899 gründeten Alfred Walter Heymel, Rudolf Alexander Schröder und Otto Julius Bierbaum den Verlag. »Die Ungeduld, mit der Heymel zu Werke ging, unterstreicht der Umstand, daß das erste Buch erschien, bevor am 19. September 1899 die offizielle Verlagsgründung erfolgte« (Theo Neteler)
