Description
  • Listed in De Ricci, Seymour, Census of Medieval and Renaissance Manuscripts in the United States and Canada. New York. N.Y.: H.W. Wilson, 1935; and Supplement, New York, N.Y.: Bibliographical Society of America, 1962.
  • Ownership : Belonged to W.A. McV. From R.L. Stuart collection (no. 3), bequeathed 1892.
  • 53 lines in two columns, ruled in pencil, prickings visible, trace of quire signature f. 134?
  • Alternating red and blue initials with opposing color penwork extending into borders; chapter numbers and names of books in red and blue; daubs of red as placemarkers; rubrics.
  • De Ricci and Dr. Guest both place this manuscript in France, and Guest places it in Paris. De Ricci dates it to ca. 1300. Dr. Guest dates it to the mid-13th century.

  • Initials with animal or human figures at opening of each book, often with elaborate extensions into borders.
