Description
English: Unveiling of a national memorial for French refugees in the Netherlands during WWI. Of the ca. 5000 refugees more than 450 perished, due to exhaustion and diseases. The memorial was a joint effort of Huib Luns and Charles Vos. The unveiling on 23 May 1926 was attended by Prince Hendrik of the Netherlands, governor Baron Van Hövell tot Westerflier, ministers Waszink and Lambooij, mayor Leopold van Oppen and many other dignitaries.
