English: Old road sign, Halifax Road, Elland, near to Elland, Calderdale, Great Britain.
Halifax Road was part of the A629, which turned right over Elland Bridge on the way to Huddersfield. Now it is the western end of the A6025 from Brighouse, but only westbound; it has local traffic only towards the east, which is perhaps why this pre-Worboys sign has survived. The A6025 used to share Elland Bridge with the A629 and then go through Greetland and Barkisland up onto the moors to join the A640. The M62 plate would have been added c.1971 when the Pennine section of the motorway was opened. |
