Description
English: Occasion, first schooner from Paimpol used for fishing in Iceland in 1852, owner Louis Morand. Under her former name Rovodoa, she was used for slaves transport. Image made in Musée de la mer de Paimpol.
Français : La goélette Occasion, est la première goélette paimpolaise armée pour la pêche en Islande par Louis Morand en 1852. Ancien bateau négrier brésilien, le Rovodoa, ancien nom de l'Occasion, est racheté par Louis Morand en 1848. Maquette exposée au Musée de la mer de Paimpol.

Own work La goélette présentée est la reproduction "Yachtisée" modernisée et navigante de la goélette Paimpolaise qui n'est née que vers 1860. Les premiers bateaux de l'épopée islandaise 1852 - 1935 à porter abusivement le nom de goélette étaient des "Dundee", moins racés et davantage qualifiés " d'écraseurs de crabes" en raison de leur cale ventrue. Les goélettes paimpolaises, plus fines et donc plus manœuvrables permettaient une approche plus sensibles des côtes islandaises où se trouvait la morue au printemps.
